「アフリカ美術」を制作する意味とは──母国スーダンを追われたアーティストたちが見る未来
2024年4月、アフリカの現代アートを発信する「space Un」が東京・青山にオープン。また、2026年ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレの芸術監督に、カメルーン出身のコヨ・クオが任命された。しかし、アフリカの現代美術は、多くの日本人にとってまだ身近な存在ではないかもしれない。本稿では、2年前から内戦が続き、国内外の避難民が1200万人以上にのぼるスーダンのアーティストたちに光を当て、その境遇と作品を紹介する。
